Allergy Treatment at Texas ENT

Allergies can come in several different forms. This includes environmental allergies such as pollen and dust, food allergies, and even allergies to medications. The first step in allergy treatment is to determine the cause of the allergy. While the cause may be known to some patients, in others it takes testing to determine. Once the cause of the allergy has been determined, treatment options are available. These treatments can ease your symptoms or help you build up a tolerance to the allergen.

Allergy Treatment Methods

Once the allergen has been determined, some patients are able to avoid the allergen permanently. This can be more difficult for environmental allergies such as dust or pollen. Our offices provide allergy treatments including:

Asensa Drops®

Asensa Allergy Drops have been clinically proven to reduce your allergies by directly targeting the source. They can be used to treat indoor and outdoor allergies and are tailored to treat the unique allergies in your area. This type of treatment is known as sublingual allergy drops. While they are very common in Europe, they are finally available in the U.S.

Allergy Shots

Allergy shots use repeated injections of the allergen to help you build a tolerance. This starts with a few injections a week and eventually drops down to just maintenance injections. As the first round of injections progresses, the amount of the allergen injected is increased. Over time, you will build a steady tolerance and find lasting relief from allergy symptoms.

    Allergy Testing

For some patients, the items they are allergic to are evident to them. But for others, the allergen may not be as obvious. Some patients may have environmental factor in their lives that they are unknowingly allergic to. This can cause them to have recurring symptoms without the knowledge of what to change. Texas ENT Specialists can provide allergy testing for:

    Environmental Allergies

Allergy tests are performed by injecting a small amount of the allergen into your arm and monitoring the reaction. We can test environmental factors such as pollen, pet dander, dust, and mold.
