It’s not just snoring.

See the other risk factors that could indicate you suffer from sleep apnea.

If you’re a regular, you may recall my father’s journey with the sleep monitoring app, WatchPat. He thought he was doing me a favor, but in the end, my dad found out that he had sleep apnea. He was floored. My stepmother had assured him that his snoring had subsided since he dropped a few lbs, so he thought he was in the clear. The thing is, snoring is not the only indicator of sleep apnea. My dad had other traits that suggested that he could have a sleep dysfunction, but we were unaware.

It may be surprising to hear, but men suffer from sleep apnea more often than women. Add some extra pounds (my dad looks fantastic, but he’s not a petite man), age (over 40), and a thick neck circumference, and you may find yourself a sleep apnea sufferer. Large tonsils, a large tongue, and a small jawbone can play a role in sleep issues too. If you suffer from any nasal obstruction (deviated septum, allergies, sinus), you may want to get a sleep test.

Maybe you’re like my dad. You’ve shed a few pounds, and the snoring has ceased. That’s awesome, but if you connect with the other sleep apnea traits, call your local Texas ENT office and ask about WatchPat. It’s easy, and it’s remote. Let my dad walk you through the whole process. Give yourself the gift of healthy sleep this holiday.
