Your Cancer Evaluation and Surgery

The first step in cancer treatment is accurate evaluation and diagnosis. At Texas ENT Specialists, we will perform testing to evaluate if you do have cancer, and what type of cancer you may have. These evaluations are performed through testing that may include a physical examination, blood or urine testing, or endoscopy, as well as imaging such as an x-ray, CT scan, or MRI. The type of testing used will depend on your symptoms and where they may indicate the cancer lies. If surgery is required, the goal will be to remove the cancerous tumor. Your surgical procedure will also vary based on the type of cancer, location, and stage.

Who Is a Candidate?

Candidates for these services include those who are beginning to feel symptoms that may indicate cancer of the head or neck, or those who are looking for confirmation. Candidates are also those who require surgery for their treatment.

Your Experience with Texas ENT

At your first appointment with the team at Texas ENT Specialists, you will discuss your symptoms and medical history, and the doctor may also perform a physical exam. After this, the doctor will decide what further testing is required to properly diagnose cancer. This may include imaging, blood work, or an endoscopy.

If you are confirmed to have cancer, our staff will perform surgery to remove the growth or tumor. This is done under general anesthesia, but the steps will vary based on the location of the cancer. You should plan to recover for 1-2 weeks at home, where you can rest and avoid strenuous activities.
