Ryan Neilan, MD, FACS, FARS

Dr. Ryan E. Neilan MD FACS FARS attended The University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with Honors while obtaining a Bachelors of Science in Human Biology in just three years. He then went on to graduate Valedictorian at The University of Texas Medical Branch receiving his Medical Doctorate with Highest Honors, as well as various other academic awards. Dr. Neilan is a Mavis P. Kelsey Scholar, awarded for medical excellence. He is the former Chairman of the Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Memorial Hermann the Woodlands Medical Center and currently serves on the Medical Executive Committee. He is a member of the Houston Methodist Physicians’ Alliance for Quality. Ryan is currently obtaining his MBA at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.

He completed his Residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He is the recipient of a William P. Potsic Award from the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology; and is an author in many scientific publications, including the New England Journal of Medicine.

Dr. Neilan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Rhinologic Society, where he has held several committee positions.  He has served nationally on the “Rhinology and Paranasal Sinuses Committee” for the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He is one of few Surgeons distinguished as a Fellow of the American Rhinologic Society in the Greater Houston area.

Dr. Neilan is a former Clinical Instructor for the Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He has been honored as a Vitals “Top 10 Doctor”, and received both the “Patients’ Choice Award” and “Compassionate Doctor Recognition”. Dr. Neilan was selected by his peers to “Texas Super Doctors Rising Stars”.

Clinically he sees the breadth of general Otolaryngology, with a particular interest in Rhinology/Allergy/Endoscopic Sinonasal Surgery as well as Pediatric Otolaryngology.  His research interests involve in-office treatment of nasal obstruction, sublingual immunotherapy, and control of post-operative nasal pain.  He utilizes advanced and minimally invasive techniques such as endoscopic septoplasty, revision sinus surgery, image-guided surgical navigation, in-office balloon sinuplasty, and Eustachian tube balloon dilation.
