What is RhinAer?

RhinAer is a device that emits low-temperature radiofrequency energy from a small, flexible tube. Your doctor will gently guide this small tube into your nasal passageway through a nostril. Once it is in place, the radiofrequency energy will disrupt the nerves in the back of the nasal passages. These nerves signal the runny nose and other symptoms. The radiofrequency energy targets the nerves only, and doesn’t affect the surrounding tissues.

Am I a Candidate for RhinAer Treatments?

Patients experiencing chronic rhinitis or sinusitis that don’t respond to medication or other methods that usually alleviate the symptoms are likely candidates for RhinAer treatments. Patients who are experiencing any of the following chronic symptoms may be ideal candidates for RhinAer:

  • Persistent runny nose
  • Nasal itching
  • Continuous sneezing
  • Post-nasal drip
  • Chronic cough
  • Nasal inflammation and pain
  • Congestion
  • Poor or broken sleep

What Happens During the RhinAer Procedure?

Your RhinAer procedure is done in-office. A RhinAer procedure begins with local anesthesia to ensure you don’t feel any pain during the procedure. Once this has taken effect, your doctor will gently guide the RhinAer device, a small, flexible tube, through your nostril and into your nasal passageway.

The tube will emit the low-temperature radiofrequency energy and apply it to the nerve fibers at the back of your nose. These nerves trigger the persistent runny nose, inflammation, and other symptoms. Your procedure is short, and no incisions are made. You will not experience pain, although you can expect some minor discomfort.
