The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association advises adults ages 50 and older to get hearing tests every three years. At Your Hearing Evaluation
Here are a few examples of test or procedures your audiologist may perform during your hearing evaluation:
- Pure Tone measures hearing levels in each ear.
- Speech Discrimination evaluates how well you hear/understand spoken words.
- Bone Conduction measures how well your inner ears respond to sound.
- Tympanometry measure how well the eardrums move.
- Otoscopy is when your doctor checks in the ear canal for physical obstructions.
