An audiologist is a doctor who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating hearing and balance disorders for people of all ages. If you or a loved one is suffering from hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), symptoms of vertigo, or balance issues, an appointment with an audiologist in Sugarland, TX is the first step to finding relief.

Are You Experiencing Hearing Loss?

If you answer “yes” to one or several of these questions, you should make an appointment with your friendly Texas ENT Specialists audiologist for a hearing evaluation:

  • Do you frequently ask others to repeat themselves?
  • Do people often seem to be mumbling, making it hard for you to understand them?
  • Do you have difficulty following conversations while riding in a car?
  • Do you sometimes discover that you have inappropriately raised your speaking voice during normal conversation?
  • Do you find yourself constantly turning up the volume on the TV, radio, or stereo?
  • Do you find it difficult to follow conversations in loud, crowded rooms?
  • Do you need to sit closer to the front in church, theaters, or auditoriums?

These may be signs of hearing loss. Our audiologists are experts in hearing evaluations, testing, and hearing aids and are committed to helping you access the right treatment options for you, including the latest hearing aid technology.

When to See an Audiologist

Even if your hearing is relatively strong, adults ages 50 and older should get hearing tests every three years. Remember: the sooner hearing loss is diagnosed and treated, the more likely you are to avoid unfortunate social and emotional side effects.

If you are younger than 50 and experience any changes in your hearing, ringing in the ears, or ear pain, it is essential that you get an evaluation to determine the cause. Having a hearing evaluation is the first step towards improving your hearing.

What To Expect During Your Appointment

Your hearing evaluation includes:

  • Otoscopy: Ensuring there is no obstruction in the ear canal by looking inside using professional tools.
  • Tympanometry: A test to determine how well your eardrum moves.
  • Pure Tone: A test to measure your hearing levels in each ear.
  • Speech Discrimination: Testing to see how well you understand spoken words.
  • Bone Conduction: Testing how well your inner ear responds to sounds.

Your licensed, certified audiologist will perform what’s called a hearing evaluation at our clean and comfortable office. The evaluation will provide your doctor with a baseline understanding of your hearing health and, if necessary, help them discern which treatment or treatments could be right for you.

Make an appointment with your Texas ENT Specialists audiologist to receive sensitive evaluation and custom treatment to help you meet all you hearing health goals.
